About This Coffee

This Kenya AB represents the collective work of more than 40,000 smallholder families farming across the Central and Eastern Highlands—one of East Africa’s most storied coffee landscapes. Producers deliver ripe cherry to their local wet mills, where it undergoes meticulous hand‑sorting, pulping, controlled fermentation, and thorough washing before being dried on traditional raised African beds for 12–20 days. Shade nets are deployed as needed to ensure slow, even drying and to protect the parchment from the midday sun.
In the cup, expect lemon and chocolate aromatics, a molasses‑like sweetness, and flavors of black tea, dark chocolate, and savory depth—a balanced, expressive representation of Kenya’s high‑elevation terroir and its celebrated varieties.

Not bad

"Its ok. Not as much flavor, aroma, or body as I’m used to at this price point."

Low acidity

"We love Hoboken coffee! Tried it at our son’s house while visiting in OK. It’s gentle on our systems, and taste great. It’s the only coffee we drink. We live in NC, and we appreciate the free shipping. Thank you Trey for a great product."

Absolutely Loved This Coffee

"This was the first Hoboken coffee that I have tried. Yes, it's a classic Kenyan, Yes, it's got that Peaberry thing, but this great coffee is what happens when high-quality beans meet the perfect roasting level. To me it had subtle notes of blueberry pie on a buttery crust with just a dash of lemon and cinnamon ... I'll be back!"

Wonderful S.O.

"Easy-drinking. Citrusy with some light spice. Nice option for the press."

Trey was right, this made the chemicals in my brain do exciting things!

"These freshly-ground beans smelled amazing. After grinding it was turned up to 11. I almost wanted to eat the grounds as-is. After brewing it poured a beautiful golden brown/amber color. Just looks dark in the mug. It makes me wish I had one of those fancy double-walled glass mugs. Official tasting notes say “herbal, zesty, clean”. Typical notes for Kirinyaga county coffees include berry jam, mandarin, and lemongrass. I agree with most of this. Up front there is a mild fruity sweetness like berry preserves that don’t have any sugar added. It’s an extremely bright, clean, and crisp cup of coffee. Definitely get a lot of the herbal/lemongrass notes. And there’s an interesting mild bitterness on the back palate to finish. Excellent single origin coffee!"

Delicious

"Flavorful, balanced, nothing too harsh. To date, my favorite Hoboken roast."
